Shamisen Club 三味線くらぶ(長唄研究会)
We play a kind of Japanese music called "Edo nagauta" with shamisen, a traditional Japanese musical instrument, and singing. Most members were begginer when they started it. The teachers offer free practice, so very little money is necessary as activity costs. We also have a club room in the Komaba Campus, where students can practice on their own. We are active jointly with the International Christian University (ICU) Nagauta Kenkyukai, and we hold a joint concert every December in which all first-year students also perform. A place-based club for LGBT+ people, mainly students from the University of Tokyo.
Tatekan Club (東京大学立て看板同好会)
We are the Tatekan Club, dedicated to creating "Tatekans" (Japanese signboards). If you've visited Komaba Campus, you've likely noticed many Tatekans around, and some of them were made by us! We meet several times a month to paint and craft these signboards. If you have a message you'd like to share through a Tatekan, feel free to join us! We warmly welcome international students.
