We performs Nagasaki traditional dance, " Jaodori". Jaodori is a kind of dances, which performers swing the artificial dragon and mimic the movements of a dragon. It originally came from China but has been performed in Nagasaki for about 300 years. Nagasaki has a typical culture which was affected by China, Portugal, and Holland in Edo period. ChorAkademie (東京大学音楽部合唱団コールアカデミー)
We, ChorAkademie, practice choral music for the May Festival, Komaba Festival, and the regular concert, based on the music books brought by our seniors and teachers. What makes our group unique is that we are the only male chorus in the University of Tokyo. Since ancient times, choral singing was performed only by male voices, and the overtones heard when the frequencies of male voices were matched were considered to be the singing voice of an angel. Ours is the only choir that offers the charm of an old-fashioned chorus. Our group has a long history and has been requested by the University of Tokyo to perform ceremonies at entrance and graduation ceremonies. We also have deep exchanges with choirs from other universities, and every year we give a joint concert with the Meiji University Glee Club, Rikkyo University Glee Club, Waseda University Glee Club, Keio University Wagner Society Male Chorus, and Hosei University Arion Chorus at the regular concert of the Tokyo Six University Chorus Association. We also perform joint concerts with the Kyoto University Glee Club. We welcome both experienced and inexperienced chorus members. Let's sing “Todai” together!
