Coro Letizia (コーロ・レティツィア)

Coro Letizia is the official women’s choir of the University of Tokyo, composed solely of female students, and was established in 2009. As the university’s representative choir, we perform the university’s songs at official ceremonies such as the entrance and graduation ceremonies. We are the only group that gets the opportunity to sing at prestigious venues like the Budokan and Yasuda Auditorium every year. Being a choir made up entirely of female students from the University of Tokyo, we offer a unique space to form close friendships while pursuing the delicate and soft harmonies that only a women’s choir can create. Although our main focus is women’s choir music, we also perform mixed choir pieces with the University of Tokyo men’s choir, Chor Akademie, at our regular concerts and campus festivals, allowing us to enjoy richer harmonies and expand our repertoire. Additionally, we will be participating in a joint concert with Seoul National University in Korea this coming March. Beginners are more than welcome, and many of our members start with no prior experience in choir. With the guidance of a professional voice trainer, everyone is able to improve steadily and enjoy singing.

The UTokyo Yuri Society (東京大学百合愛好会)

The UTokyo Yuri Society is the only club in UTokyo dedicated exclusively to yuri. With around 50 members, the club's main activities revolve around biweekly meetings and the annual publication of a newsletter. The biweekly meetings provide a casual space for members to gather and chat about yuri. The newsletter, the "Liliest" series, consists of various articles written by volunteer members, including reviews, discussions, and original works. The newsletter is mainly distributed at "Comiaca," a doujinshi convention by UTokyo members. Additionally, the club holds discussions on creative works and hosts activities focused on detailed readings and presentations.

Shamisen Club 三味線くらぶ(長唄研究会)

We play a kind of Japanese music called "Edo nagauta" with shamisen, a traditional Japanese musical instrument, and singing. Most members were begginer when they started it. The teachers offer free practice, so very little money is necessary as activity costs. We also have a club room in the Komaba Campus, where students can practice on their own. We are active jointly with the International Christian University (ICU) Nagauta Kenkyukai, and we hold a joint concert every December in which all first-year students also perform. If you are interested in our activities, please visit our SNS!

The University of Tokyo Shorinji-Kempo Club (東京大学運動会少林寺拳法部)

What is Shorinji Kempo? Shorinji Kempo is a self-defence art born in Japan. Shorinji Kempo is a martial art that originated in Kagawa Prefecture in the post-war period. Its founder, Sōdōshin, organised and reorganised the fist techniques he had learnt in China and added his own originality and ingenuity to them. Although it is a relatively new martial art, it is one of the nine major martial arts of Japan. It is characterised by two types of techniques: hard techniques, such as thrusting and kicking, and soft techniques, such as throwing and joint techniques, and places emphasis not only on technique but also on mental development.
